Welcome Message from Zakiya Toirova
Dear Loving Arms Care Community,
As we embark on this extraordinary journey, I am thrilled to present our very first journal—a tangible celebration of the remarkable path we’ve walked together. This edition holds a special place in my heart, symbolizing the growth, dedication, and unwavering commitment that define Loving Arms Care Inc.
Loving Arms Care is more than a Home Care Agency; it is a testament to the power of compassion and the resilience of the human spirit. On these pages, you will find updates from Loving Arms Care, an exclusive interview spotlighting a cherished member of our community—Nadirah Muhammad—information on various events in Charlottesville, and a special caregiver spot.
Our caregivers, the backbone of Loving Arms Care, are not just professionals; they are the embodiment of passion and skill. In respite, personal care, and communication, they shine as beacons of empathy, leaving an indelible mark on the lives they touch.
This journal is a tribute to our collective journey—a journey marked by joy, gratitude, and the profound satisfaction of making a positive impact. As we turn the pages, let us reflect on the bonds we’ve created, the lives we’ve touched, and the countless smiles that have lit up the path we’ve walked.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Zakiya Toirova
Owner, Loving Arms Care Inc.
Interview with Nadirah Muhammad of Story House Real Estate
Can you share a personal or professional experience at Story House Real Estate that reflects both the company’s values and your passion for connections in your life?
“I feel super lucky to be a part of a company that places so much value and emphasis on community involvement. We recently established a new company vision, which is, ‘Creating a future that is bigger than the past for the families, neighborhoods, and communities we serve.’ When I read that statement, I feel it perfectly encapsulates the work we do. It’s not just about helping people buy and sell homes, it’s about being a trusted source, an advocate, a wealth of knowledge, and a steward for positive change and community growth. In every event I go to, on any committee I serve on, and in any room I enter, I set an intention to be a force of positivity and try to uplift everyone around me as well!”
How has your lifelong love of learning and collecting stories influenced your personal and professional life?
“I’ve always considered myself a lifelong learner and lover of stories. When we really think about it, stories are our most ancient and innate way of connecting, so I never take for granted the opportunity to be graced with someone’s story. I place so much value on learning and hearing from others, so when it comes to real estate storytelling, I internalize a lot of it. Home, as a concept, is all about security, safety, and shelter, so to be trusted to tell the story of a client’s home is one of the most precious things! I cherish every marketing project, every listing material, and every tool we create because it’s an opportunity to be a part of one of the biggest moments of someone’s life.”
How do you balance your personal and professional life as part of the BWRT Executive Council?
“In any space I occupy, whether professional or personal, I try to make it a point to be super authentic. I feel that I balance my personal and professional life fairly well because both are so naturally intertwined! I’m very grateful to inhabit a position that is so well aligned with my values of being an active community member, coordinating outreach initiatives, and authentically connecting with those around me. To tell you the truth, it’s hard for me to stay at the surface level when it comes to relationships! I thrive off of building really strong connections, and I consider myself extremely lucky that I get to develop those relationships even further in my work. In my role as co-chair for BWRT, I cherish the opportunity to connect with truly incredible women every month, so I approach every meeting eager to meet new faces and thrilled to catch up with repeat attendees!”
As a Junior League member, how do you weave kindness into your personal and professional life?
“In my day-to-day role as Brand Storyteller for Story House Real Estate, so much of what I do is rooted in how other people feel when they’re around me. When I’m filming content, telling the story of a home that we’re listing through our marketing, or working with the great folks on my team to help populate their social media calendars, I strive to be a safe space and a source of kindness that people can seek comfort in. To me, it is never, ever, a waste of time to spend the extra time to make someone comfortable when it comes to telling their story. It can be a vulnerable process, and I feel honored that I’m able to shepherd that unveiling, so I don’t take it lightly and I try to approach every situation with that mindset!”
How has your connection to Virginia shaped your approach to relationships?
“Being from Virginia Beach, I’ve always felt inspired by Virginia. However, when moving to Charlottesville, I began to really appreciate the local purveyors, local winemakers, local produce, local… everything! This hyper-connectedness to everything local has really just made me want to get more connected and more in touch with great people making great things. I love supporting and shopping small, and it just makes me fall in love with this city a little more every time.”
